IDC: China Web 2.0 Market Reached US$62.8 million

One of the questions I was frequently asked, but I don’t know the answer, is how big is the market of China web 2.0 service. A recent report by IDC will help you.

According to IDC, China’s Web 2.0 market has shown great development potential and in 2006 the market size reached US$62.8 million. By 2011, China’s Web 2.0 market is predicated to reach US$645.8 million.

IDC also estimated that there are more than 2,000 Chinese “home-grown” Web 2.0 services. The IDC report featured typical companies as MOP, Xunlei, Youku, Dianping, Hipihi and others.

What’s lacking is a comparison to other markets, e.g., the States, the ROK, Japan, …

The number doesn’t sound like very much, but it might be in a relative sense. Or, it might just show that the Web 2.0 market is a small market when it comes to the top line, and only a large market when it comes to market cap — demonstrating the insanity of the market.

I was wondering if this China web 2.0 report is available on a public site or if it is only available by purchasing it. Thanks in advanced. Andres.
