Fund Raising News: Saybot and PPLive
Saybot, an online English learning service provider, completed its second round of funding of $8.2 million led by CID Capital. Other investors included CMHJ Partners, Vickers Ventures.
Saybot was founded by Mr. Pengkai Pan and Mr. Ho-Ki Au in 2004 with the strong support of Nicholas Negroponte. From Saybot’s website:

Through Saybot’s innovative speech-based platform, English teachers, publishers, and schools can create and sell spoken-English curricula to 180 million English learners in China.
PPLive, a p2p video streaming technology and service provider, announced it the third round of funding of $21 million from Draper Fisher Jurvetson in March 2007.
PPLive, established in 2005, previously raised series A funding of $ 500,000 from Softbank China Venture Capital (SBCVC) in 2005, and second round of funding of several million USD from Bluerun Ventures and SBCVC in 2006. PPLive’s direct competitors include PPStream and UUSee.
