Tudou Testing New Video Player, Advertising Style

TudouVideo sharing site Tudou is now showing a notice on the right side of video clips, inviting you to test the new video player. By clicking it, you will start to view videos in this new player.

The new video player is adopting a style like foreign video sharing site Heavy. The embedded player is in the middle of the page, while anything else is moved below the screen to leave space for advertisement.

There’re two kinds of advertisement. During the first several seconds there will be a front-end advertisement covering the whole screen. There’s no way to skip it. The video stops playing during the advertisement. In the rest of the time, it shows a background advertisement surrounding the player. Though you can dodge it by viewing the video in full screen mode.

The flash player also has a little improvement. Now you can click a button right in the player to view more video recommendation. The playing video shrink to the corner, but it will not stop. You can come back to it at anytime.

You can switch back to the old version of the player during the testing period by clicking a link on the page.
