Anothr Goes To GTalk

Anothr, the Skype-based rss reader, just launched its Gtalk/Jabber bot (anothr@gmail.com), then you can use Gtalk to subscribe your favorite rss feeds.

With the high penetration of IM tools in our daily usage, I think it is very helpful to use our favorite IM tools to receive update alerts of our subscribed feeds. Incesoft’s funding also proves that instant messenger integrated with various bots or plug-ins could be a new platform for users to access information and interact. For instance, when Twitter’s IM bot was down in last week, many users felt it inconvenient to post updates via web.

According to my experience in using Anothr, generally it is quite Good, but it need to improve its stability further, sometimes it can not send out feed update notifications in time. I usually use my desktop rss reader or Google Reader, but I think Anothr is quite suitable to track the updates of short blog posts, such as your friends’ Twitter updates. (BTW, it’s my twitter).
