Mai8: Podcasting Service Focused on Entertainment

Mai8 (?????) is a newly launched podcasting service in China, it mainly focus on audio podcasts on entertainment, such as talk show and songs by users.

As most of the podcasting service provider, users can publish, subscribe, listen to, tag and rate podcasts, and function of recording podcasts by phone will be launched later. You can upload unlimited your own music clips to Mai8 without restriction on file size or bandwidth.

Besides podcasting, users can also write blog post in Mai8. Its blogging service emphasis on its market positions as well, so far there is one and only one default category in blogs called “original lyrics” for the original songs by users.

Mai8’s target market and positions are reiterated by the following two functions: 1) a library of music accompaniment(????) of Chinese songs will be introduced to help its uers to create their own Karaoke music recording; 2) a wiki to offer more information on knowledge and skills to create your own music and songs.

As a new service, Mai8’s function still need many improvements. But as a podcasting service targeted a niche market, Mai8 seems to have higher percentage of original podcasts which makes it different from other podcasting service in China, where only a small proportion of podcasts are orginal clips.
