Voice from Chinese Music SP Regarding Government Regulation

Today we read an exclusive interview of Co-founder and CEO of Top100.cn regarding recent tightened regulation of online music from Chinese government:

Overall I think it is a positive move. Online music market in China need to be regulated.

[…] If legal online business would spend one month to get IFPI authentification of copyrights and then go through Ministry of Culture censorship, then piracy business will definitely beat legit business in China again.

[…] certain international company use double standard (legal business in America; illegal search and download in China) in Chinese market and make government agency and value chain disappointed and lose confidence in them.

Certainly we also believe the new published regulation of online music will bring new opportunity into this booming market, and eventually drag some attention into real business from pirate battles.

I followed the top100.cn’s CEO interview link on Hypebot and also noticed that they have also added another report called “More on Chinese crackdown” at
http://hypebot.typepad.com/hypebot/2006/12/more_on_chinese.html#more where the CEO’s comments were questioned and top100.cn claim’s of being legitimate are disputed.
Seems like top100.cn has not cleared a lot of rights for the music they sell including publishing rights – maybe CWR should investigate this? It is disgraceful that top100.cn should accuse others of piracy when it is itself engaging in the same…
