Aobo: Mashup your feeds
Aobo is an RSS mashup service to manage your feeds directory and output them in customized format.
It has two main features: 1) An aggregation of multiple feeds. You can aggregate your feeds by category and even add advertisement code into the aggregated feeds. 2) Display updated feeds in web portal format optimized for mobile device.
Speaking of RSS mashup, we haven’t seen better service than xFruits, which is by French company WebzineMaker, launched public beta in June 2006. Similar feature of Aobo can be realized with xFruits’ Aggregator RSS brick plus RSS to Mobile brick in a pipeline.
Feeds hosting service like Feedsky also provides multiple feeds aggregation and mobile optimization feature, which we reported early this month. But generally they are different services. Feedsky is for heavy syndication, while Aobo is for more flexible and light syndication.
Aobo is reported to be backed by Oblog, but we couldn’t find any information on Oblog’s website. This service must be in very early stage. Although it provides embedded code to display feeds on other website, but we cannot make it work. Also the right click context menu has conflict with IE’s own context menu.

The problem is that there are no many users using RSS in China. People even don’t know what RSS is.
& the RSS mashup might be interesting, but hard to monetize the service.
There is still a long way to go in this field.
