A brief rundown of Barcamp Shanghai

Yesterday, the first barcamp in China took place in Tudou’s office. Is it a success? Damn yes. I would share with you what I have learned in this event, if I can organize my random thoughts later and write down in a format making sense to public. In this post I just give a short rundown, so people who hasn’t made to the event can know what has happened.

Don’t forget, the second Barcamp Shanghai has been scheduled to take place in Mar. 2007. It’s six month going forward. Hope to see everybody who has attended the first Barcamp Shanghai. Also looking forward to see more people to join the second event.

I think you don’t want to miss this photo of Aether’s Barcamp tshirt, currently the most interesting barcamp photo according to flickr. Aether is an active participant from Tudou. He has helped us a lot during the conference.

Not sure how many people came, because we don’t have a registration list. We do have a registration process, in which people are asked to write down his name, URL and three things about himself on the tape and paste it on his clothes or wherever easily for people to see it.

I have recorded everyone during the self introduction in the morning. There’re about 50 people made self introductions.

The conference was in better order than I thought. People posted their session request on the wall. Then the sessions are voted and rearranged in less then 10 min. After that the conference is kicked off and people are on their own to select and join interesting sessions.
