Blogbus’s New Design
Blogbus, one of the leading blog service providers (BSP) in China, launched its new design yesterday, its continuous style of simplicity makes Blogbus different among China’s BSPs.
Besides the improvements in its function to provide better usability and experience to users, Blogbus introduced three new features, including an online RSS reader called RSSeed, classified advertising service (博贴) and social groups (群组).
Among all three new features, social groups is my favorite, but I personally don’t think it is smart for Blogbus to provide rss reader and classified service, because it will definitely distract their energy and focus. Blogbus should focus on improving their blog hosting service continuously as what six apart did. And markets of rss reader and classified are all crowded, I have not seen any special strengths of Blogbus to be successful in these market.
As for social group, I think it is an effective way to facilitate the communication between bloggers who share the same interests or live in the same geographic regions. Users can register a new group or join an existing group, then the group you joined will aggregate your blog post in group frontpage. Group administrators can rate and recommend good blog posts. The social networking feature will help to link bloggers together, any specific blog is not a separated island anymore.
But I think opml file of group blogs should be added, and it would be much better if the group has an rss feed which aggregate the latest posts of all blogs of the group. Anyway, I think social group is the right direction for Blogbus to explore, rather than in rss reader or classified markets.
