Seehaha: One of The First Chinese Podcasting Services
Seehaha, a podcast hosting service named in Knowledge@Wharton article and provides live videocasting service for Chinese Blogger Conference 2005, launched in last summer. It was formerly known as Showhaha, is one of the first Chinese podcasting services.
Seehaha allows users to upload unlimited video podcasts and convert them into flash format, as Youtube. The podcasts then can be embedded into blogs or other websites by adding a piece of scripts. And a 3GP format is also available to be download(currently, unable to download due to website error) and transfer to mobile phone. Of course, RSS, tag, contacts and user voting, all these web2.0 features are available.
For convenient video publishing, Seehaha allows users to use webcam to record and upload videos directly in Seehaha or in their blogs by using API of Seehaha. In addition to it, users can even broadcast live show on their blogs or websites by adding scripts into blogs.
I think among all Chinese podcasting services, Seehaha provide the best way for users to produce and publish videos. And usability design of Seehaha is also one of the best. Nonetheless, it seems recently Seehaha lose their momentum. When its competitors are making tremendous progress, I can not find Seehaha’s advancement. On the contrary, the website has become slower and sometimes intolerable. I like Seehaha’s service, I do hope it will overcome current difficulties. Competition in podcasting market will be more demanding than we think, if you can not continuously make progress, you will lose.
