Hainei Adds Xianguo Hot, A Step to Platform?
Hainei, an emerging social networking site and a Facebook wannabe in China, just launched a new feature on Saturday, which might be the first step of Hainei’s vision to build an SNS platform.
Xianguo Hot, the new feature partnered with Xianguo, a popular online rss reader, is something like putting Xianguo’s homepage inside Hainei. You can read the hottest articles digged by Xianguo’s users without leaving Hainei. The rss reader feature of the new competitor Yiqi.com may accelerated this cooperation.
We are happy to see Hainei start to add third-party applications into Hainei, instead of building everything by itself. However, this Xianguo Hot is just a small step towards a platform. Right now, Xianguo Hot still doesn’t allow any user interaction between Xianguo and Hainei. You can only read hot posts from Xianguo reader, but you cannot digg the articles, share the articles in Hainei, and you cannot use your Xianguo account to read your Xianguo subscriptions inside Hainei either. It does not like a third-party app which you might see in Facebook.
So far, the new feature is just an old-style partnership product, we expect more. But we understand it is not easy to build open platform in China, we do hope that’s just the first step and more will come later.
