Xie Wen, a luminary of the Chinese Internet whose somewhat windy comments on the state of the Internet you can read in translation in an eight-part series on this blog beginning here, has announced he’ll launch a new social networking site called Yiqi (”Together”). Not much there yet, though you can take a little “tour” that tells you more about what’s in store. Luyi says that the site will focus on recommendation, thereby putting it in competition presumably with leading recommendation sites like Douban (for books, music, other media) and Dianping (for restaurants).
